Sandi Nieman Lovitz Structure and Gesture @ Da Vinci Art Alliance

Sandi Nieman Lovitz @ Structure and Gesture, a Da Vinci Art Alliance event. Lovitz won 3rd prize for her painting on plexi with vivid color, bold brushwork and scratching away of paint, the result is very seductive and beautiful, eclipsing the other paintings in the room as far as brightness and movement goes.

Artist Uprising – Day 15

Posted by Side Arts on January 15, 2011
Artist Uprising / No Comments

Side Arts is challenging contemporary artists to become more involved with the emerging artists’ community of today. Our charge to the selected artists: Tell us about an early experience showing or selling your artwork and what you learned from it. Artists will be asked for submissions as well as representative images of their artwork.

More great artists to check out:

Dr. D
Above
Cope 2
Ewok1
Kaws

As promised, we want to let you know how the project is progressing, good, bad, or otherwise.

We have received a few positive responses from artists that have expressed interest or more information, some have committed to sending their submissions. Fortunately, we have not had anyone say no, although the all too human errors of mis-labeling and mis-sending of emails have embarrassingly occurred. Obviously, we are trying to minimize errors as much as possible.

Our goal is to pre-select 300 artists to get the 100 that we need, work with their referrals, and ask for Philadelphia community participation. Currently, we are in the first stage and have contacted 40 artists. More updates soon…

Help the BAG project get to Montana!

Dear Friends,
I am pleased to announce that I have been selected to participate in a new online community of America’s finest artists called USA Projects http://www.unitedstatesartists.org/ created by United States Artists to expand its mission of investing in America’s finest artists.
Together we can join as pioneer members!
USA Projects is in a “Beta” stage in which a few artists have been selected to participate. You can join this community and help it grow! My Profile and Showcase are already up, and I’ve just launched a new project called BAG.
Check it out here:
I have some great BAG related perks available for anyone that’s interested in supporting me in this effort, and if you can’t support the project financially, I’d love it if you helped to spread the word and tell your friends about it. There is a video on my page, with me exploring the contents of someone’s bag you know you can’t miss! The goal of the project is to fund a BAG photo shoot and solo exhibition in Glasgow, Montana.
Come explore a new online community of America’s finest artists!
USA Projects is a community where America’s finest artists and those that love and support them can share their latest work, discover new artists, enter into a dialog with each other, and make direct donations (of any size, all of which are tax deductible) to new projects created by each artist. This is the first website in our knowledge that allows direct public donations between art patrons and accredited artists on the Internet.
Thank you for your support and interest,
Best regards and Happy New Year!
Ellie

Tyme Gallery presents Susannah Hart Thomer

Posted by Side Arts on January 13, 2011
Gallery Opening / No Comments

Tyme Gallery is proud to present the first prize winner from their 13th annual juried exhibition “Inner Essence,” Susannah Hart Thomer. Thomer, a watercolorist, designer and illustrator will be on hand at the reception to meet with the public. The opening reception for the exhibition is Friday January 14th, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

According to Thomer, “While I’ve been painting in watercolor for a long time I still marvel at the qualities of the medium. I experiment try to understand contrast and more specifically, working to get darks dark and still maintain the flavor and texture of transparency. I like to give myself ‘problems’ to try and solve. Some work, others don’t, but it keeps me challenged and learning.” Thomer is a graduate of Moore College of Art and an award winning artist with an interesting resume. Included in her resume are several book illustrations. One book, A Red Rose For Frania, was presented to Pope John Paul II and is now housed in the Vatican Library, in Rome. One of her collectors is the new Continental Bank. She is also a Signature Member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Red River Watercolor Society, Philadelphia Water Color Society and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America.

“Susannah Hart Thomer,” her watercolors are so real you want to reach out and touch them. The opening reception is Friday, January 14th, at Tyme Gallery from 5:00 to 9:00. The reception is catered hors d’ oeuvres from Antonella’s Italian Kitchen in Rosemont and is free to the public. The artwork is on sale and exhibit from January 14th through February 5th. Tyme Gallery is located at 17 W. Eagle Road in Havertown. For additional information about the exhibition, or for directions, call 610-853-1215 or check out their website at www.tymegallery.com.
