Philly.SideArts.com Art Auction for Philly Aids Thrift

Grab bag @ Philly.SideArts Launch Party

Todd Hestand

Art-trepreneur, Todd Hestand of Philly.SideArts.com gave away extended free memberships to artists whose business cards were pulled from a bag.  Jed, you left too early!

To celebrate the launch of the new site, Todd Hestand hosted a party at the Dark Horse Pub near Head House Square with a silent auction benefiting Philly Aids Thrift, so many artists offered donations that many had to be turned away, yet, there are still several fine art pieces available at the on-line auction including DoN’s “light being (Joey Ramone)“.   All the proceeds go to Philly Aids Thrift, please bid, there is some really cool art for a great cause.  The party drew a crowd of artists, friends and the art-erati such as Da Vinci Art Alliance’s Lilliana Didovic, artist/entrepreneur Jed Williams, the master Arthur Ostroff and Art in City Hall’s Guru, Tu Huynh – Todd did a terrific job explaining the benefits and services for the new and improved site and really mixed it up with the crowd.

Congratulation from DoNArTNeWs!

Cups & Chairs, Queen Villages’s contemporary tea lounge, is showcasing paintings by Philly Side Arts member and local artist, Daniel Chow

It’s always tea time at Cups & Chairs

Beginning May 1st, Cups & Chairs, Queen Village’s contemporary tea lounge, is excited to showcase paintings by local artist, Daniel Chow. An oil painter of the impressionist genre, Daniel prefers to describe his works as representational, because he believes that nothing is absolute. Although his paintings are alla prima, still days, weeks, or sometimes months of forethought have happened before the first stroke was placed on the canvas.

Daniel is self-taught, but some of his early work came under the tutelage of Benjamin Long at the Fine Arts League of Asheville, North Carolina.

First Friday, Opening Night, and Music Night
Join us at Cups and Chairs’ on May 6th for First Friday and celebrate spring an early Mother’s Day with friends and family over tea and treats. And don’t forget to buy a gift for mother.

Cups & Chairs Hours:
Monday-Friday: 7a-8p
Saturday: 8a-8p
Sunday: 8a-6p

701-703 South 5th Street • at the corner of South 5th and Monroe Streets • Philadelphia, PA 19147 • 215.238.8832 • www.cupsandchairs.com • info@cupsandchairs.com

Spring Extreme Art Show and Event

Spring Xtreme Art Show offers a forum and venue for emerging artists and fans of extreme sports to express their love of the sport through visual art.   By encouraging artistic participation in the Spring Xtreme Art Show, Joshua Stone Productions hopes to  cultivate dialog about these sports that traditionally have been frowned upon as rebellious tools of youth.  Extreme sports, against overt speculation and down trodden oppression, has transformed itself into a now world recognized sport platform and is no longer viewed as a subculture or counter culture within the sports community. The Spring Xtreme Art Show aims to celebrate this coming of age by encouraging artist to convert this physical art form into a metaphysical experience using fine art as the vehicle.
