“I am always inspired between the collaboration between the artist and the viewer. The interaction between fashion and the person wearing it is an amazing thing to me. That’s why I dabble in jewelry and apparel. I enjoy the look of a hand drawn design especially when it’s teamed up with apparel. Most of my designs in my STUDiO_Apparel store are hand drawn elements from sketchbooks & paintings. I do also include a variety of digitally produced designs as well. This is a “look book” video I produced just to show a small portion of a larger t-shirt portfolio that I have created.” – Sean Martorana

A store-front art gallery comes to the Rittenhouse Square district of Philadelphia, “offering a unique opportunity for student and new-graduate emerging fine artists to get the exposure they may not be able to get on their own.” said owner Randall Cole.
Cole bought this property on 406 South 20th Street, and spent over two years rehabilitating it. Cole said he toyed around with the idea of using the property’s street level space as a gallery to show case works by student and new-graduate artists. It’s a place where Cole and Gaby Heit Prelude’s creative director, could “introduce art collectors and the general public to select rising stars.”

Owner, Randall Cole
Cole, a computer engineer, finished the 315 square feet gallery space taking advantage of the natural light coming in from the store front’s large window. Up to 40 artworks can be displayed on the walls and up to 80 other artworks can be placed in bins for easy access by gallery visitors. “I think it’s a good thing for the community.” said Cole.

It’s always tea time at Cups & Chairs
Beginning May 1st, Cups & Chairs, Queen Village’s contemporary tea lounge, is excited to showcase paintings by local artist, Daniel Chow. An oil painter of the impressionist genre, Daniel prefers to describe his works as representational, because he believes that nothing is absolute. Although his paintings are alla prima, still days, weeks, or sometimes months of forethought have happened before the first stroke was placed on the canvas.
Daniel is self-taught, but some of his early work came under the tutelage of Benjamin Long at the Fine Arts League of Asheville, North Carolina.

"This Glorious Earth" Annie Haslam
“Colors of Sound and Light,” the art of ANNIE HASLAM, the Voice of English Classical Rock Band RENAISSANCE. Special limited exhibition, 3 days only… May 10 – 12, 2011. Hours: noon to 9 PM daily. Personal Appearances by Ms. Haslam during the show hours. Call gallery for details. The woman whose crystal clear, high-flying soprano vocals earned her worldwide attention as the lead singer of the English classical rock band ‘Renaissance’ has recently achieved an entirely new level of appreciation as an ‘Intuitive’ painter. Annie is able to ‘tune’ into people, animals, situations, emotions and places, and portray them in her own unique style. Annie also channels her art from deep within the earth and far off in the universe! On canvas, Annie Haslam’s unmistakable world of sound is taken into unique vistas of color and vibration, not unlike the flow of her five-octave voice. Transporting the viewer to other worlds and through inner boundaries is her ultimate goal, bringing healing, serenity and peace through her work. Nicholas J. Sands, director of Sands & Company Fine Art in New York City, heralded Annie’s paintings as “magical, enigmatic and wondrous for their ability to take us to a far-away place… of fluid forms that are at once alien and familiar, primordial yet recognizable, which dance in an endless array of colors that are as rich and intense as molten lava.”
In 2009 Annie and bandmate Michael Dunford reformed ‘Renaissance’ and have been touring the world and recording ever since. A fall concert tour is currently being planned.

4/8/11 – 5/8/11 Opening reception, April 8, 6 – 9 PM. Dale Levy’s colorful, non-objective paintings invite you to experience her perceptive process. Each painting begins with the surprise of a shape formed by pouring paint on a wet canvas. As the color runs, spreads, and pools, it evokes sensations of depth, texture and movement. The color abuts, overlaps, and morphs into a new and different hue. Other shapes and colors follow, each responding to the movement and placement of a growing family of forms. Somewhere in this process her perception emerges, guiding the completion of the work. Gallery Hours: Wed. thru Sun., noon to 6PM or by appointment (215) 772-1911 www.twenty-twogallery.com
